This eighteen hole course features lush fairways that are nestled along the southern edge of the Choctawhatchee Bay, which flows into the Gulf of Mexico. The course is somewhat flat with large, undulating greens. The fairways are open, featuring wide corridors. Overall, this player-friendly course is very well maintained and provides a challenge for golfers of varying skills. The signature hole is #4, a 401-yard, par 4, featuring a green that resides along the bay. A sand bunker on the rear of the green is the only barrier separating the green from the bay.

Seascape, 850-654-7888 -- 100 Seascape Dr., Destin, FL (A couple miles east of the vacation homes.) Public, 6696 yards, 18 holes. Driving range, putting greens, club rentals and snack bar.
This course has well-bunkered fairways and greens. The fairways are lined with Florida Pines, and there are water hazards that come into play on several holes. This is a good course for the average player. There are several scenic views of the Gulf of Mexico.

Semi-private championship course, 6802 yards.
This course has tree-lined fairways and small, undulating greens. There are water hazards that come into play on nine holes. The greens are average-sized and mostly level.

COURSES IN SANDESTIN
Four courses at The Sandestin Resort, about 5-6 miles east of the vacation homes.
This 2,400-acre resort offers 72 holes of challenging golf in the form of four championship eighteen hole courses: The Raven Golf Club, Burnt Pine Golf Club, The Links Course and Baytowne Golf Club. Greens fees are in the $80-$125 range.
The Raven was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. This course meanders through the wetlands of the Sandestin Resort, and is noted for dramatic water features, challenging bunkering and fairways lined with tall pines. Burnt Pine Golf Club was designed by architect Rees Jones. This eighteen-hole track's fairways have been described as tumbling, and the course winds through wetlands and marshes. The many water features of this course come into play on 12 holes, and the bunkering is exceptional - making for a most challenging round of golf. The Links Course winds alongside the Choctawhatchee Bay. Designed by architect Tom Jackson, this course opened for play in 1976. This track is a shotmaker's' course where accuracy and proper club selection are a must in order to outfox the prevailing Gulf Coast winds. The medium sized greens are undulating and moderate in speed. Water hazards come into play on 13 holes. The Links Course plays from 4,969 to 6,710-yards and has four sets of tees. The Baytowne Course is Tom Jackson's second creation at Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort. The rolling fairways of this course are lined with tall pines and lead to large, undulating greens that are moderate in speed. Water comes into play on twelve holes and the entire course is heavily bunkered. The Baytowne Course plays from 4,862 to 6,890-yards and offers four sets of tees. To contact The Baytowne Course call

COURSES IN NICEVILLE -- Just north of Destin, across the bay.
Golf courses at Bluewater Bay Resort in Niceville
This club has four separate nine-hole courses that are used in a multiple of combinations of eighteen holes. These courses vary in design as their names will indicate. The Lakes Course has many lakes, the Marsh Course runs throughout the marshes, the Bay Course plays alongside a bay and has wetlands throughout, and the Magnolia Course has an abundance of magnolia trees that come into play. All the fairways throughout the four nine hole courses are bordered by thick rough and tree-lines. Each of the courses have many sand bunkers that come into play, and their terrain's are reasonably flat. The greens throughout the thirty-six holes are somewhat sloped, but have many subtle breaks that are hard to distinguish. The Bill Skelley School of Golf is located on the premises. Eglin Air Force Base Golf Club in Niceville, just north of Destin
This military club has two eighteen hole courses. The Eagle Course has water hazards coming into play on five holes. The Falcon Course has water hazards coming into play on two holes. Both courses are hilly, so you'll never experience a flat lie. There is an
"endangered species hazard" that comes into play a few times on the Falcon Course. Guests of the course must be sponsored by a Department of Defense member.

This municipal facility has two eighteen hole courses. The Oaks Course is a shorter, more narrow course with water that comes into play on four holes. There are several dogleg fairways, and the design puts an emphasis on precise placement off the tee. The greens are also very small, and sand bunkers are prevalent in the layout. The back nine was added to the Oaks Course in 1994. The Pines Course is longer with wide-open fairways and large greens. Island Golf Center, Fort Walton Beach

This public facility features two nine-hole par 3 courses. The Par 3 Course has water hazards coming into play on every hole but two. The average length of the holes is 150 yards, with the longest being 175 yards. The Pitch and Putt Course is just as scenic as the Par 3 Course. Both courses are located next to Choctawhatchee Bay. Both courses are lighted until 10 PM in the summer months. In the winter, the courses are open from 8 AM to 6 PM. The scorecard doesn't show handicaps for individual holes on either course. In addition, this golfing center also has two eighteen hole miniature golf courses which contain some of the most beautiful miniature golf holes in the country.
